Celebrate Year of the Dragon with a Gong Fu Tea Ceremony

Join us for a Gong Fu Tea ceremony in honor of Chinese New Year of the Dragon. We will serve traditional Chinese Teas prepared in the Gong Fu tea manner. Four or five varieties of tea such as Dragon Well green tea, 8 Immortals Dan Cong Black Dragon tea, Iron Goddess Green Dragon tea, Rou Gui Black Dragon tea, and Long Yuan Dragon Court Pu-Erh tea will be sampled.

Tea has been a way of life for thousands of years in China, and has inspired poetry, music and art. The Gong Fu Tea Ceremony combines the mindfulness of Taoist practice with the joy of tea and ceremony.

When served in the Gong Fu manner, tea is effectively decaffeinated with an initial rinsing. With the elimination of the caffeine, the more subtle flavors and spirit brightening effects of the tea become more pronounced. Tea is revered in China as an elixir befitting the immortals. Its health benefits are broad, ranging from anti-oxidation, reduction of cholesterol, regulation of blood sugar, anti-aging benefits, support of weight loss, improving metabolic rate, immune function, and circulation.

Please note that the tea will be naturally decaffeinated.

Corinne has been performing the Gong Fu Tea ceremony since 2009. Along with studying Chinese culture since 2002, including Tai Chi, Qigong, Taoist philosophy and religious practices, Chinese healing arts, lifestyle, cooking, she learned the traditional Gong Fu ceremonial method of tea preparation. She worked in Shifu’s tea shop and performed the Gong Fu Tea Ceremony daily. Jude Hasken will be assisting with the ceremony. He shares his lifelong love of tea and respect for the traditions of tea.
